The Romantic France

The Olive Road offers bespoke adventures to that place beyond the place - those locations where wonder still abounds. And this September, we will be in the South of France - in Hérault, part of the region now called Occitanie - for a week to immerse ourselves in its rich, thriving culture. And all during the wine harvest season that defines the region as summer turns gracefully to fall.

Our small group will go to spectacular farmers’ markets for the freshest ingredients to craft delicious, seasonal meals together. And there will be trips to vineyards and days wandering the streets of the medieval villages that are the hallmark of this part of France. And we will spend our nights in our own gloriously restored private hamlet nestled in the hilly wine country just north of the Mediterranean. This is an unfiltered France, an untrampled France, a secret, please-never-change France. And, lucky for you, it’s a place that we know well. And a place that we promise you’ll never forget.

• Spending the day with a winemaker at her estate followed by a feast on the property created by a local chef to showcase the vineyard’s esteemed wines.

• The caves of Roquefort. Experience the only place in the world where Roquefort cheese is made in caves carved out of the earth.

• Our own fully restored Hamlet where we are the only guests in the historic property.

• The famed oyster harvest in the Étang de Thau.

• A day wandering the local market with our chef-in-residence. We will buy all the food that we will need to craft a magnificent dinner when we return to our Hamlet. 

• Breakfast on the terrace every morning looking out at the mountains
